Tucked away in the outskirts of the Bowood Estate, The George Inn has been a welcoming sight for weary travelers, locals, and curious wanderers since the 1800s. Built during the height of the Georgian era, our walls have spent over two centuries quietly observing the history of Sandy Lane—and hosting thousands along the way.  

While our surroundings honor the past, our bar and kitchen are firmly focused on today. We believe in doing the simple things exceptionally well:

That’s why we are immensely proud to work exclusively with local suppliers, family-run farms, and independent butchers right here in our region. From farm to fork, our kitchen creates seasonal British comfort food using the freshest harvests, humanely raised meats, and artisan produce. Behind the bar, our pumps showcase exceptional real ales, craft ciders, and spirits sourced from small-batch microbreweries and distilleries just down the road, offering the very best of local craftsmanship in every glass. 

Best of all, hospitality here extends to four-legged family members, too. We’re proudly dog-friendly, with plenty of fresh water, complimentary treats at the bar, and cozy spots near the hearth for your pup to curl up after a long walk.
